Monte Bernardi Retromarcia Chianti Classico DOCG 2022

Sadie Family Swartland Twiswind 2024
$185.00“Lovely aromatics to this white, showing mangosteen, lemon, sliced pears, wet stones and sea breeze on the nose. It’s very racy, saline, and mineral, with a medium body and fantastic energy. So much complexity and salty brightness. A blend of 12 varieties, co-planted in 2019. The first bottling of this wine from a windy site.” 96 […]

Pegasus Bay Finale Half Bottle 2021 (375ml)
$65.00“Noble sweet white blend made in the style of Sauternes. Very luscious without being cloying. Plenty of honeyed botrytis influence with vanilla, ginger, bush honey and quince characters. A wonderful dessert wine.” 96 Points, Bob Campbell MW, The Real Review “Pungent nose of musk & smoke from the botrytis, a saline aspect, marzipan & fruit […]

Tyrrell’s Vat 8 Shiraz Cabernet 2023
$90.00The outlier in the range, considering that it’s the only blend and a multiregional blend at that, with 35% of the fruit coming from McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s also a genuine blend of styles, not trying to be a Hunter Valley wine, but an emblematic Australian wine, and therein lies its value. It’s not […]

Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon 2022
$145.00“This was a very good vintage in Margaret River after the slightly more challenging ’21. This has the refined elegance and prettiness that is the Moss Wood DNA. The colour is quite pale compared to some previous vintages, but don’t be fooled into thinking this is some shrinking violet. Violets, yes, but plenty more in […]

Sylvie Esmonin Gevrey Chambertin Vieilles Vignes 2022
$280.00‘Here the wood is more apparent with a hint of menthol though neither are so much to impinge on the attractiveness of the ripe black cherry, smoked game and overtly floral-scented nose. The rich, generous and more concentrated medium weight flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the serious, youthfully austere and built-to-age finale. This […]

Sylvie Esmonin Gevrey Chambertin 2022
$240.00“A more deeply pitched nose reflects aromas of humus-inflected poached plum, cassis and violet that display hints of earth and leather. The supple and succulent yet well-detailed medium weight flavors possess a lovely mouthfeel before concluding in a youthfully austere finish where a touch of wood arises. This is an excellent Gevrey villages and worth […]

Paul Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet Vieilles Vignes Rouge 2022

Fonseca Vintage Port 2017

It comes in with 98 grams of residual sugar, a little drier on paper […]

Fonseca Vintage Port 2016
$220.00On this second look, this Fonseca is still remarkably expressive, lifted and gloriously fresh, even with that slight closing. It has reasonable mid-palate concentration but even better intensity of flavor. Despite that intensity of flavor, it is not quite as sexy as it is in some years, at least not yet, as the tannins are […]

Gosset Grand Blanc de Blancs NV Brut
$165.00Too many Blanc de Blancs are sour and overtly mineral, making them difficult to enjoy, let alone drink. Gosset as ever manages to assemble a Champagne of completeness, a combination of invigorating freshness and a blanket of texture and fruit. At first subtle, but that doesn’t last as the beautiful aromas of burnt butter, nougat, […]
