Wild Duck Creek Sparkling Duck Shiraz NV
$80.00Exceptionally rare. A wine that I think embodies this estate like no other, showcasing their ability to make elegant, savoury and very complex wines, not just dark and massive monsters. Dark in colour, but less so than their still shiraz’s, and there is a greater emphasis on tertiary notes. The fruit profile is very complex, […]

Domaine A Petit A Cabernets 2014 Museum Release
$70.00St Emillion inspired, but for me, reminiscent of the haunting, autumnal wines of Pessac Leognan. Beautifully complex aromas of blackcurrant, cranberry, mulberry, blackberry, violets, garrigue herbs, tobacco leaf, mint and cocoa. Pure ripe fruit, supple initially, before the sensual squeeze of chewy, tobacco laced tannins. Very complex interplay of savoury and fruit notes with squid […]

Adelina Shiraz 2022
$65.00Col McBryde told me that he liked to drink Pinot Noir and Nebbiolo whilst at home and their influence is clear. Expressive with kirsch, lavender, pink peppercorns, cassis, blackberry, cocoa, mint, fresh compost and a ferrous quality not always present in Clare shiraz. Medium bodied and mouthwatering, the fruit picked perfectly ripe. Very pure, deep […]

Eisenstone McDonald Vineyard Marananga Shiraz 2020
$115.00Deep, dark and very bright purple-red colour, with a lovely detailed aroma of chocolate and herbs, both fresh and dried; floral nuances and red fruits, hints of spices and the palate is very full-bodied and generous with lashings of supple tannins, all in harmony with the great depth of fruit. A complex wine already: it […]

Luciano Sandrone Valmaggiore Nebbiolo d’Alba 2021
$95.00Barbara Sandrone describes this as a mini Barolo, as do so many Barolo producers when discussing their nebs, but marketing pitches aside, I don’t think that does it justice. You can have too much of a good (great) thing and the Valmaggiore is so elegant, composed and beautiful, without trying to emulate Barolo. Grown in […]

Wild Duck Creek Duck Muck 2021
$505.00A very rare wine of utmost intensity and exceptional quality, rewarding careful cellaring. Duck Muck was first made by a stroke of luck. Some super-ripe Shiraz was picked from Wild Duck Creek’s Original Vineyard and made into wine, which didn’t quite fill a barrel. The barrel was then topped up with Alan’s Cabernet Pressings, being […]

Farr Rising Gamay 2025
$62.00Deep, dark, and vibrant in the glass. The nose is intense — dark spice, a punch of salinity, savoury herbs and graphite. Beneath the assertive opening sits a perfumed musk and confectionary lift that hints at carbonic maceration. A second pass reveals brown spice — mace and clove — alongside ripe Christmas cherries. The palate […]

Eisenstone Greenock Shiraz 2021
$85.00Deep, bright red-purple colour; the bouquet likewise bright and fresh, initially with a high-note of freshly-sawn oak, which dissipated somewhat with time in the glass. The palate is bright, intense and elegantly weighted, just making the full-bodied weight category. It’s quite oaky but has good approachability, medium-long carry, and the tannins are ample and very […]

Bondar Rayner Vineyard Grenache 2025
$40.00A warm and dry season, with halved crops, so some younger vine material joined the 1970-planted vines. Whatever the challenges, the result is in the black. Also, no oak this year, being fermented and raised in ceramic, clay and concrete; 15% whole bunch. There’s a deepness to this, and some levity. It feels spicier, earthier, […]

J&S Fielke Piccadilly Valley Pinot Noir 2025
$40.00Full-flavoured yet exquisitely delicate, this is Pinot Noir of detail, tension and intrigue. Fielke wines rarely sit neatly within stylistic boundaries, and this is no exception. Intensely aromatic, with lavender, violets, Asian spice, earthy nuances and a compote of tangy red and hedgerow fruits. Medium-bodied, balancing angular edges and fine-boned structure with silky, sappy fruit. […]

Paralian Springs Hill Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2022
$65.00This may seem like an outlier in the range, but it isn’t. Cabernet Sauvignon is indeed a classic varietal of McLaren Vale and the passion project of Charlie Seppelt. Exudes a quiet power; a wine to be contemplated with its changing-of-the-seasons dexterity, one moment spring-like and floral, and then autumnal and dark.
