Caroline Morey Chassagne Montrachet Chambrees 2023
$285.00The usual blend of Bergerie, Masures, Chênes though the last is now pulled out (161/49 rootstock). Pale lemon and lime. Quite a refined bouquet, majoring on elegance rather than weight. Delicate, nuanced, good acidity, a pure and perfumed Chassagne for the medium term. Not too reductive at this stage. Drink from 2027-2032. 89-91 points – […]

Fabien Coche Meursault ‘Les Chevalieres’ 2021
$250.00The lieux-dit of Les Chevalieres is situated above the village of Meursault. Above is the lieux-dit of Les Luchets, which produces a higher toned, more tensile wine. I can’t help but think that this is ideally situated, in a sense, mid-slope, the perfect aspect in Burgundy. Impossibly complex, with notes of white flowers, lemon, lime, […]

Chacra Sin Azufre Pinot Noir 2025
$125.00“Aromas of watermelon, dried strawberries and orange peel…Medium-bodied with fine tannins that show softness and a light, velvety texture. By Farr GC Chardonnay 2025
$170.00‘My vocabulary defaults to words like fragile and brittle, but it’s not right. Neither sinew, nor high pitched do this wine justice. It’s like porcelain; translucent, strong, beautiful and pure. Don’t make the same mistake I did and drink this straight from the fridge, it’s too cold. This wine is reluctant when it’s 4 degrees, a reluctance that becomes […]

Bondar Hope Springs Eternal Chardonnay 2024
$75.00A new wine in this lineup, from Bowyer Ridge vineyard, Lobethal, at over 500m. Three barriques, two older, one second fill, with full mlf. This needs a little time, with winemaking tricks pleasingly absent, but the acidity is coiled, crimping in flavour, of which there is ample, and texture. Time will heal. Cool nectarine, moving […]

Delamere Vintage Cuvee 2018
$50.00Light straw-yellow tone with a fine bead showing. Poached granny smiths, crushed raspberry and baking brioche aromas. Palate fills with apple and berry fruits while a deep maturity shines through towards the finish with notes of warm sourdough and warming toffee. The acidity carries it well, lingering in the background, allowing the fine bead to […]

Alheit Vineyards Huilkrans Chenin Blanc 2023
$165.00“Huilkrans comes from Jozua Visser’s Oudam farm, located at 450 metres in an isolated spot on Citrusdal Mountain, sometimes called the Skurfberg. Planted between 1974 and 1978, the vines are all dry-farmed, producing yields of almost painful paucity. Fermented in old barrels before ageing on lees for 12 months, this sings with what Chris Alheit […]

Jasper Hill Georgia’s Paddock Nebbiolo 2024
$75.00Flavour with attitude: down to earth and savoury as savoury can be. An attitude adjustment can be made with a decent decant, and then it’s a revelation with the emergence of attractive rose and pressed flowers alongside a wealth of ripe dark fruits, spice, earth, bracken, leather, woodsmoke and cured meats. The palate is ripped […]

Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnay 2022
$150.00The palate is detailed and ethereal. Pear greets nectarine, white peach and lemon curd. Woven and harmonious, it unfolds to a graphite and mineral thread, with a touch of sherbet, aniseed and cardamom. Gentle textures open through the mid-palate with vibrant natural acidity, amidst a black tea, talc and chalk-like finish featuring characteristic length. Winemaker’s Notes […]

Cobaw Ridge Original Block Pinot Noir 2023
$100.00A cool region, a cool season and a very cool wine. It sits nicely and feels unforced, in time, unfurling in the glass. Starts with spiced red cherries, kirsch, blood orange and amaro with some fresh bitter herbs, mint and a touch of forest floor fragrance. The palate finely tuned with feathery tannins, a raw […]

Iggy H&C Eden Valley Syrah 2021
$75.00From 2 vineyards in 2021, after to a “miscommunication” with another vigneron left Iggy stranded without even a barrel worth of fruit. A vintage that has yielded many great wines, and the H&C is the first wine he has made with 100% whole bunch. Igor used the time old method of tasting the stalks, before […]

Jean-Paul and Benoit Droin Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnere 2023
$200.00”Aromas of citrus blossom, orange oil, white flowers, iodine and honey introduce the 2023 Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre, a medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered wine that’s rich and dense. Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
$140.00One of Australia’s great cabernets. This from a cooler season highlights and accentuates the typical bright red fruits and blue fruit mix, especially on the nose. It’s aromatic and perfumed with an African violet scent. The palate as always is so exquisitely balanced and refined. Since 1989 the cabernet has been augmented with the floral […]

$40.00Thorne and Daughters ‘Menagerie’ Pinotage is the contemporary face of Pinotage, a grape that is extremely versatile in the cellar and at table. Alex Moreau Chassagne Montrachet 2022
$265.00“Smoke and petrol nuances add breadth to the aromas of rosemary oil, pear and soil tones. There is impressive volume to the dense and seductively textured medium weight flavors thanks to the abundant amount of dry extract that imparts a sappy quality to the lingering, powerful and balanced finale. This is noticeably less refined, indeed […]

Disznoko Tokaji Aszu 5 Puttonyos 2013 (500ml)
$145.00A late ripening year with an ‘Aszú miracle’ appearing from mid-September onwards, giving beautifully concentrated Aszú berries with intense botrytis but also great acidity. It’s still a real baby, showing creamy vanilla aromas with ripe pear, acacia and peach. It’s luscious and silky with lovely purity and superb intensity of quince and honey, and fine […]

Valenciso 10 Anos Rioja 2012
$115.00The subtle, elegant and complex 2012 10 Años Después (10 years after!) matured for four years in concrete followed by four more years in Caucasian oak barrels that polished it. It has an incredible 15% alcohol, which doesn’t show at all, and the wine comes through as balanced and elegant, powerful too but with no […]

Weiser-Kunstler Trabener Gaispfad Riesling 2018
$85.00Generally preferring sweeter styled Mosel wines, it’s always a thrill to love the unexpected. Marc Sorrel Crozes Hermitage Rouge 2023
$130.00‘Very concentrated, but so cool and precise. The wild berry freshness is off the scale, but the herbal freshness is what makes this leap right out of the category and establish its own category. Such exciting and refined tannins. They drive the extremely long, racy and pure finish. 100% whole cluster. Drink form release.’ 97 Points – […]
