Huon Valley chardonnay off Permian mudstone, clones 277, 95, 97 and 76 for the geeks amongst us, no malo, 20% new oak. Now here is a wine that smells distinctly like it is comfortable in its own skin and it hasn’t been mucked with. There’s an inflow of lemon curd with fruit tones of white peach, nectarine and grapefruit. Hints of crushed stone, almond meal, crème fraîche, clover blossom, cashew butter, a distant tendril of struck flint and subtle nutty oak. Warm, dry year with yields at 2t/ha. Mainly D2V6 & D5V12 clones, wild ferments, 12 months in barrel, 5% whole bunch, 16% new oak, unfined. High toned spice, drunken cherry, weight, structure, sap.

A warmer vintage with a touch more alcohol weight in 2024 means this iteration has a riper spectrum of fruit and flowers but with that combination of slatey and creamy textures. Certified organic grapes, I10V1 clone, no malolactic, unfined.
