A fantastic vintage for this wine, 2023 delivering the goods across the entire island. The Small Wonder wines tend towards the contemporary, balanced with an abundant, fleshy mid-palate. Cool and tangy citrus, citrus blossom, some green mango and white peach. Super intense and focused; the acidity in lock-step with a touch of mouthwatering phenolics. Such vibrancy, clarity, length, energy and harmony make for a delicious drink now, and a long, fulfilling life in the cellar. Norris at Waters Wine Co
A wet spring meant poor flowering across Tasmania, reducing yields significantly yet the rest of the season was relatively peaceful if cooler than normal. Despite the lower yields the cooler season ensured picking was about ‘normal’ in the old money so resulted in wines that were both restrained and elegant but intense. An excellent vintage if truth be told.
A classical Tasmanian Chardonnay – all citrus, stone fruit, pith, weight and length. Gilli and Paul Lipscombe, Sailor Seeks Horse
