Rieslingfreak No 5 Clare Valley Off Dry Riesling 2026
$25.00Perfumed and inviting – red apple, white peach and mandarin, with a lift of orange blossom and honeysuckle. The palate is lush yet poised, stone fruit and apple wrapped in a gentle sweetness, cut by a sherbet-like zing of acidity. Rich through the middle, but finishes clean, bright and long. Some of the most […]

Rieslingfreak No 8 Schatzkammer Riesling 2026
$35.00Bright and playful – lemon sherbet, guava and hibiscus lift from the glass. Light in alcohol, with a perfect tension between succulent sweetness and crackling acidity. Tropical and citrus notes glide across the palate before a razor line of freshness snaps it shut. Clean, precise, and seriously moreish. Firstly, if you were drinking this […]

Grosset Alea Riesling 2024
$45.00Alea holds some additional sweetness as its canon. There’s an appealing and ultra-high drinkability here. Charm in spades. Floral scents of frangipani and lemon blossom with candied ginger, lime juice, just-ripe pineapple and tonic water. Similar to taste with a slipperiness to texture that feels well metered by the building crispness of the finish. More […]

Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Kabinett 2022
$55.00From the blue slate soils of the steep (75%) slope sites of Brauneberg. 8.0 % alc/vol; 8.7 g/L TA; 44.9 g/L RS. ‘Wonderful nose of cassis and flint with floral and baking spice nuances. Very clean and racy with so much drive and energy on the sleek and focused palate. Fantastic wet stone freshness at […]

Pressing Matters R9 Riesling 2022
$42.00I love the ‘R’ designations on the Pressing Matters rieslings. From R0 for bone-dry to R139 for sweet, they are an indication of the RS in the wine. The R9, in theory, should teeter on that fulcrum between dry and off-dry, but that crystalline Tasmanian acidity tempers any sweetness and it appears dry. And totally […]

Seehof Morstein Riesling Kabinett 2022
$40.00Sourced from one of the top, limestone-laden vineyards in Rheinhessen, Seehof’s Morstein is fine, dry Riesling. Shimmering a striking golden yellow, the nose benefits from a bit of breathing time to show its full potential of lime blossom, sage, candied ginger, and petrol tones. On the palate, this Morstein is dark and brooding, but balanced […]

Dirty Three The Dirty Rizza Riesling 2024
$38.00Off-dry riesling at it’s very best, and the first that I’ve had from Gippsland. A ‘feinherb’ in style, so only about 10 g/l of sugar, so the alcohol is low also, at 10.8%. Gorgeous aromatics of spring jasmine, quince, flint, preserved lime, lemon, green apple and gentle spice. Pure and refreshing, energetic, ravishing yet precise, […]

Pressing Matters R69 Riesling 2022
$42.00Pale green-yellow hue; a lifted perfume of honey, lime and lemon blossoms and the palate is rich and yet super-fine, the sweetness balancing out what is surely quite high acidity. The end result is gorgeous flavour and fruit/sugar/acid balance. The persistent honey note suggests the grapes were fully ripe. The finish is clean and harmonious. […]

Reed White Heart Riesling 2023
$35.00A remarkable feinherb style. Tangy, tense and lithe with very high levels of natural acidity balanced by gentle sweetness. Flesh and zest of lime, grapefruit, white flowers, lemon, cumquat and tangerine. The acidity and salty minerality lend a sort of chisel and muscularity. This is certainly approachable now, but ideally better in a year or […]

Reed Amplitude Riesling 2024
$60.00If I was rich man I would buy every single bottle. Only 600 litres produced off what Sierra Reed emphatically stated is the best Riesling vineyard outside Germany and to emphasis the point, the Riesling is no longer, grafted over to Chardonnay for commercial reasons. If you have taken my advice, you too will feel […]

Peter Lauer Petit Ayl Riesling Auslese 2018
$105.00Based on overripe and raisined grapes mostly from the Scheiterberg, the 2018 Auslese Petit Ayl is super ripe, intense and generous but clear and piquant on the nose where lemon zest and flinty notes intermingle. On the palate, this is a mouth-filling, piquant, refreshing and very digestible Auslese with an intense, lemon-fresh and piquant finish. […]

Gentle Folk Riesling 2024
$40.00Our love for off-dry Riesling has meant giving the style a third run but with some refinement. Dryer than previous years, bottled much earlier, but still with a little hints of sugar to balance out the acidity we get from the high altitude and quartz soils of Scary Gully. We love it. Producer’s Notes […]

Julian Haart Wintricher Ohligsberg Riesling Spatlese 2022
$165.00Astonishing nose of lilacs, hyacinths and a bunch of flowers that I can’t put names too. The same applies to the incredibly fine and delicate palate that redefines this category of Mosel riesling with unfermented grape sweetness and a stupidly negative reputation. Graceful and quite creamy mid-palate, the enigmatic vibrancy at the finish, all without […]

Julian Haart Goldtropfchen Riesling Spatlese 2023
$165.00Here is all the baroque beauty of this great Goldtröpfchen site. The cornucopia of yellow fruit, berries, flowers and floral honey would demand several paragraphs for an adequate description. Incredible finesse and subtlety on the medium-bodied palate, the wine hopping, skipping and jumping for joy. Then comes the incredible stony power in the compact and […]

JJ Prum Bernkasteler Badstube Riesling Spatlese 2022
$110.00“This reminds me so much of English hedgerows in summer with their diversity of flowers, berries and herbs. Cool and elegant in spite of the impressive ripeness on the medium-bodied palate. Very polished through the impeccably balanced, subtle finish. Hard to believe that analytically this must have a significant amount of grape sweetness, because it’s […]

Reed Frequency Riesling 2024
$50.00There is a sort of pulsating urgency to this wine, a frequency if you will, the feel totally different from the Baroque grandeur of the Amplitude. Lithe and sinewy, the fruit is nonetheless lavishly complex. Yellow peach, red cherry, mint, cranberry, lime and gardenia flower. Some extract here and real tannic grip, firmly holding the […]

Spreitzer Lenchen Riesling Spatlese ‘303’ 2019
$90.00The Spreitzer Oestrich Lenchen Riesling Spätlese ‘303’ was first produced in the year 2000 and honours the Spreitzer brothers Grandfather who harvested his legendary Trockenbeerenauslese from the same vineyard in 1920 – which garnered a record sugar level of 303 degrees Oechsle. Coming exclusively from the Eisenberg this is rich with red apples and sweet acacia […]
