Based on overripe and raisined grapes mostly from the Scheiterberg, the 2018 Auslese Petit Ayl is super ripe, intense and generous but clear and piquant on the nose where lemon zest and flinty notes intermingle. On the palate, this is a mouth-filling, piquant, refreshing and very digestible Auslese with an intense, lemon-fresh and piquant finish. Gorgeous but still far too young. This is based on the free run must only “to express the purest fruit and greatest finesse,” as Florian explains. Tasted in June 2019. 92+/100 Stephan Reinhardt, Issue 244 End of August 2019, The Wine Advocate
