Astonishing nose of lilacs, hyacinths and a bunch of flowers that I can’t put names too. The same applies to the incredibly fine and delicate palate that redefines this category of Mosel riesling with unfermented grape sweetness and a stupidly negative reputation. Graceful and quite creamy mid-palate, the enigmatic vibrancy at the finish, all without being demonstrative. Very limited production. Drink or hold. 98 Points, Stuart Pigott
This is a wine that is always an impressive performer and represents top value for the asking price. Pretty scents of white flowers diffuse. Old school lemonade surges with a green apple drive. So fresh, there is a hint of cucumber in the midst too. Soft, talc feels roll out to a long and refreshing […]
Add to cart Producer: Castle Rock EstateThe 2022er Niedermenniger Herrenberg Riesling Spätlese Feinherb Palm (the reference to this internal cask name is provided in small print on the label after the AP number) comes from different small parcels on the western side of the vineyard and was fermented down to off-dry levels of residual sugar. Slightly reductive at first, this quickly […]
Add to cart Producer: Hofgut FalkensteinAlea holds some additional sweetness as its canon. There’s an appealing and ultra-high drinkability here. Charm in spades. Floral scents of frangipani and lemon blossom with candied ginger, lime juice, just-ripe pineapple and tonic water. Similar to taste with a slipperiness to texture that feels well metered by the building crispness of the finish. More […]
Add to cart Producer: GrossetThe 2020er Bernkasteler Badstube Riesling Spätlese is slightly reduced at first but quickly reveals a beautifully refined and floral nose of aniseed herbs, tangerine, mint, smoke, herbs, and almond cream. The wine is nicely playful and light-weighted on the palate, yet it proves nicely complex and long. This is a delightful Spätlese in the making, […]
