Savaterre Chardonnay 2024

Here is the art of winemaker laid bare, in all of its beauty as well as mystery. It’s a slow reveal, all the better to take in a wine both plush in fruit and fine in structure, citrusy fresh and oak defined, savoury influenced and varietally pure. Complex, tangy fresh aromas arrive Beechworth-bright before leading into a tightly packed, concentrated palate of lemon citrus, grapefruit, stone fruits and toasted almonds creamily textured with honeysuckle aromatics. Light to mid yellow, bright in the glass, and the bouquet is complex and subtly detailed, not big on reduction this year, but with a controlled flintiness. Minerals and hazelnuts. The palate has a dab of juicy fruit sweetness at the core, and the flavour is profoundly deep and long-lasting. Savaterre Pinot Noir 2024

Medium ruby to garnet colour showing some development; the bouquet also showing some tertiary nuances buildng a smoked charcuterie and toasty oak mélange, uncannily burgundian and five-spicy, with intensity, persistence and great sweet fruit richness in its core. The progresses builds and swells as it progresses through the mouth, fanning into a true “peacock’s tail”. An outstanding pinot noir, with ‘wow’ factor! 97 points – Huon Hooke, The Real Review

 

A little more open, a little more aromatic, a little more immediately inviting than the previous release, which is good news for those impatient wine drinkers among us. Lifted and beautifully perfumed in rose petal and violet aromas, red berries, raspberry, blood orange pith and aromatic dried herbs. Comes together in perfect sync, integrated in fine tannins, with small red berries, herbs and aromatics on show and a freshness of acidity that pulses and brightens the whole experience.
