‘My vocabulary defaults to words like fragile and brittle, but it’s not right. Neither sinew, nor high pitched do this wine justice. It’s like porcelain; translucent, strong, beautiful and pure. Don’t make the same mistake I did and drink this straight from the fridge, it’s too cold. This wine is reluctant when it’s 4 degrees, a reluctance that becomes confidence as it warms slightly. The colour of the wine has the slightest green hint, otherwise bright and clean. The nose smells of chalky soil struck pebbles and a saline citrussy note too. As it warms in the glass it seems to stand 2 inches taller, it shows ginger, apple, cinnamon and vanilla.
The fruit is sleek and persistent. It’s neither jammy nor too restrained. It tastes like a cool glass of Chardonnay in the white stoned town square in Meursault, but of course, it is more unique than that. Whilst Burgundy has hundreds of wineries, the little hamlet of Bannockburn, in the outskirts of Geelong might count as many as 5.’ Ben Knight for Nick Farr

Dense and almost full-bodied for Chablis, yet beautifully crystalline, with piercing focus, serious depth and an effortless flow. The palate layers yellow peach, grapefruit, lime, marjoram, tarragon, fresh hay and apricot, with a succulent, juicy texture that makes it immediately approachable […]

Only a tiny amount of this wine is made each year, and very little ever leaves Tasmania. It’s a pure, confident expression of site – built to reward patience in the cellar. Aromatically, it opens with white peach, and sweet citrus notes. The palate is taut and zingy, carrying through long on the finish. Oak […]

Flinty with reductive notes, showing struck match, kaffir limes, sea spray, grapefruit and apple blossoms. The palate is taut and refined with a generous fruit profile. So distinctive and impressive. A bit of a sleeper at first, with airy notes of flint, nutmeg and fennel coming to the fore. With a little more nudging, spiced stone-fruits and earthy wafts of fresh moss appear. The core exudes a quiet confidence, anchored by stone-fruits layered with flint, white button mushroom and sweet spices. It’s been handled with […]
