‘My vocabulary defaults to words like fragile and brittle, but it’s not right. Neither sinew, nor high pitched do this wine justice. It’s like porcelain; translucent, strong, beautiful and pure. Don’t make the same mistake I did and drink this straight from the fridge, it’s too cold. This wine is reluctant when it’s 4 degrees, a reluctance that becomes confidence as it warms slightly. The colour of the wine has the slightest green hint, otherwise bright and clean. The nose smells of chalky soil struck pebbles and a saline citrussy note too. As it warms in the glass it seems to stand 2 inches taller, it shows ginger, apple, cinnamon and vanilla.
The fruit is sleek and persistent. It’s neither jammy nor too restrained. It tastes like a cool glass of Chardonnay in the white stoned town square in Meursault, but of course, it is more unique than that. Whilst Burgundy has hundreds of wineries, the little hamlet of Bannockburn, in the outskirts of Geelong might count as many as 5.’ Ben Knight for Nick Farr

Light straw colour with a reserved lemon/grapefruit aroma, fresh and penetrating, the palate brisk and bright with vibrant acidity and intense grapefruit/lemon flavours that persist the full length of the very long palate. Superb vitality and balance. It promises to reward cellaring too. Tremendously concentrated and compact, with extreme drive and massive persistence, it positively […]

From a 12-row block of P58 clone planted in ’76. Matured in French hogsheads and puncheons (40% new); 70% mlf. A very bright green gold. Interestingly, this is the most restrained and subtle of Bannockburn’s ’25 chardonnays, and, no surprise, also the most complex. Aromas of perfectly ripened stone fruits, orange pith and lemongrass precede […]

Aromas of white peach, citrus blossom, mille-feuille and toasted nuts. The palate is quite savoury with salty lime freshness, but the weight and texture builds with time and you’ll start to see the trademark juicy stone fruit flavours. It’s tightly-coiled and as usual with be fantastic now with some air, or a few years in […]

“The saltiness in this chardonnay is so impressive, with aromas of sliced apples, honey, crushed stones and honeysuckle. Medium- bodied, crunchy, vivid and flavorful, with hints of peaches and grape skin” – 96 points, James Suckling From 3 parcels with a range of sand, clay, and pebble soils. Warmer conditions yielding bolder flavours this year, […]
