The 2017 Vat 6 Tyrrell’s Pinot Noir is gorgeous. It’s nervy and has that fabulous angular structure unique to Tyrrell’s. There is a complexity of flavour that I have not yet seen from this wine. Raspberry, strawberry and cranberry with hints of porcini mushroom and cured meat. There are also wonderful hints of oak spice amidst the firm, ripe tannins. This is great Pinot Noir and a ripost to those who think its a varietal suited to cooler climes.
The Pinot Noir grapes are sourced from just below the Tyrrell’s 4 and 8 Acre vineyards, planted in the 1970s. The grapes were hand-picked before natural yeast fermentation in open top vats. 30% whole bunches included. Maturation was in French oak barriques for 11 months, of which 10% was new. WWC, June 2019
Medium bodied, lovely tickle of graphite tannin, savoury but fresh strawberry and lightness of touch throughout, good finish, firm but fresh….. It will shine with a little more bottle age to bring out further complexity. It’s a very good Vat 6. 94 Points – Gary Walsh, The Wine Front

The 2019 Bourgogne Rouge delivers inviting aromas of cassis, sweet berries, spices and orange rind, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy palate that’s lively and sapid. After the rich, gourmand 2018, the 2019 is a touch more nuanced and dynamic, but this is always a dependable cuvée. 88 Points – William Kelley, […]
Add to cart Producer: Thierry GlantenayQuite a classic wine – firm and correct, medium bodied, linear, savoury, reminding me of the pinots from Beaune. Lifted florals with some ripe whole bunch influence of clove, licorice and aniseed. Focused, compact and coiled with brambly fruit, cranberry, savoury spice and ripe authoritative tannins. Nothing showy. A discreet wine, with pin point balance […]
Add to cartThe 2020 Volnay Village wafts from the glass with aromas of cherries, dark berries, sweet spices and rose petals. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and succulent, with melting tannins and a saline finish, it includes roughly one-third premier cru fruit. Add to cart Producer: Thierry GlantenayOnly 180 bottles in the country. Dureuil’s village Rully is drawn from three organically managed plots—Le Meix Cadot, Rosey and Montagne de Remenot—which cover just under three hectares in total. The average age of these vines is now 50 years. The 2020 fermented with a pinch of bunch and raised for 12 months in one-third new oak. Janthial […]
