The Lamarche Echézeaux comes from three lieux-dits: Les Cruots ou Vignes Blanches, Clos-Saint-Denis, and Les Champs Traversins. Altogether these parcels make up about 1.3 hectares of vines with an average age of 30 years. Nicole Lamarche works with very low yields here, which, alongside the Domaine’s delicate extraction, results in a superb expression of this terroir. Of this cuvée, Jasper Morris has written, “… [it] has almost as much to offer as the Grands Echézeaux. True, the latter has greater weight and power, but the Echézeaux… is particularly elegant in its immaculate, lacy style.” Another very fairly priced grand cru.
Fine bright crimson purple. The bouquet awaits future development. There is considerable weight of fruit starting at the front of the palate, an elegance in the fruit profile, but a feeling that there is more detail to be shown later. A leaner finish after the relatively velvety texture of the wine across the palate, as there is a touch more acidity here. 93-96 points, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy

This is 100% estate fruit, 25% whole bunches were retained while the balance of the crop was destemmed. A wild ferment was in small open vats and the juice had about three to four days rest before some gentle foot-stomping and a daily plunge. Everything was pressed after 14 days into tank, and then gravity-fed […]

I tasted this wine on days 2 and 3 as well to learn about its development potential. Turned out to be a good idea with the most complex aromas alongside scents of the variety and region showing best on day 3. Flavours of black cherry and baked raspberry, there’s a fine stony mineral quality and […]

A remarkable wine, from an impossible vintage. The fruit is sourced from all of the estate vineyards, only 100 cases produced perhaps the best demonstration of just how punishing a vintage it was. Quite closed initially, but with patience, aromatically soaring. Intense sweet and tangy blue red and black fruits, cut flowers, mace, clove, cinnamon […]

The fruit is supported by bright florals of rose and violets with crunchy red berry fruit and dried herb notes. The palate is succulent with alluring red cherry, brown spices and silky fine boned tannins. This wine has all the makings of a long […]
