Vincent Dureuil-Janthial Rully Rouge 2020

A terrific follow up to the excellent 2019 with notes of blackcurrant, dark cherry, blackberry, sandalwood, baking spices and plum. Medium bodied, plush, succulent and sappy. The oak frames the wine nicely and is beautifully integrated. It’s delicate and pretty, the fruit sweet and tangy. Tannins are long, drawn out, powdery and soft. Very fine indeed. Waters Wine Co

Only 180 bottles in the country. Dureuil’s village Rully is drawn from three organically managed plots—Le Meix CadotRosey and Montagne de Remenot—which cover just under three hectares in total. The average age of these vines is now 50 years. The 2020 fermented with a pinch of bunch and raised for 12 months in one-third new oak. Janthial uses a Jayer-esque pre-ferment cold soak to extract the prettiest aromas and softer tannin. Touchstone Rully. Importer’s Notes

“The 2019 Rully is a great success, offering up an expressive bouquet of raspberries and plums. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and succulent, its pure and nicely concentrated core of fruit is framed by succulent acids.”  89-91 points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
