The SCHIST Syrah is grown on our Roundstone Estate in the Swartland, home of Mullineux. Planted in 2000, we have been working intimately with this vineyard since 2005 and it is the reason that we purchased the property. The structured SCHIST soils make for structured, broader tannins and create the darkest perfume of all our single soil Syrahs, with phenomenal aging potential.
This is the most structured Syrah in our Single Terroir range. On the nose there are notes of black pepper, black fruit and spices. The palate is full-bodied with a meaty, savoury character, plenty silky tannins giving structure and a balancing natural acidity. The finish is fresh, long and supple. Winemaker’s Notes
2020 – 5 Stars Platter (95), 96 CE, 96+ GS, 98 TA, 94 NM, 95 JS
A blend of Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah, the exact proportions closely guarded, this delivers exactly what we’ve come to expect from this wine. The consistent elements of Redskin lolly are there, with strawberries, cream, some bittering grapefruit rind balance, a brush of garrigue herbs, all wrapped up in a slightly oily, generous texture. Vintage 2023 […]
Add to cart Producer: JulesSourced from 22-year-old vines on the lower end of the east-north-east slope, the Crudo bottling channels all the vivid, savoury Rhône-like appeal Luke searches for while delivering plenty of delicious, drink-me-now appeal. This year, just 10% bunches were included in the ferment to avoid overcrowding the spicy blueberry flavours and fine, granite-derived tannins, and the […]
Add to cart Producer: Lambert WinesAlways the most overtly structured of the Yeringberg offerings, the 2018 vintage Shiraz has a tannic presence rarely seen in Australia. Medium bodied, tightly wound, and needing vigorous coaxing, when it does finally appear, the intensity of entry is worth the wait. Gripping the mouth with firm, coating tannins offering red fruits, blueberry, lavender, camphor, […]
Add to cart Producer: YeringbergThere is a ‘brilliance’ to the colour of this wine, really purple with a red hue. Taken from four sites, 60% of the blend comes from the south of Heathcote and the remainder from the northern sites. Combination of American and French oak, 45% being new. Intense aromas of bright red fruits, chocolate and strawberry […]
