Classically trained, technically strong, he has the solid foundations required to push things, as he punningly promises on the label, to the edge. Without the disciplined fruit sourcing, the commitment to keeping multiple parcels separate through fermentation and the finely tuned skill to blend them in such a way it seems they just naturally coalesced, a wine of this kind of wild beauty could go very wrong. Producer Profile
After a decade at Petaluma, Peter Dredge moved to Tasmania in 2010, spending five years as chief winemaker at Bay of Fires before launching Dr Edge in 2015. Focused on cool-climate Tasmanian Chardonnay and Pinot Noir – still wines and traditional method sparkling – the project sources fruit from select sites, including the Coal River Valley.
Dredge’s wines have quickly built a cult following: distinctive, expressive, and uncompromising in quality, with a style that’s as recognisable as the labels themselves.
