“More open higher tones here – pretty floral accents too – that’s fine! Lots of energy and flavour dimension. The flavour is highly accessible and modestly cushioned. Long and interesting, indeed absorbing wine. I love!” Bill Nanson, Burgundy Report
A very high, cold, rocky, late-ripening site, Montrevenots is at the top of the hill on the Pommard boundary above Clos des Mouches. It’s a south-facing slope, which, to some extent, mitigates the vineyard’s altitude. The white clay and limestone soils here tend to deliver raciness, bright, red fruit notes, and fine, powdery structure. At this stage, Jobard’s Montrevenots is a tiny cuvée, cropped from just one-tenth of the domaine’s 1.4 hectares. This is because he is replanting most of this site with mass-selection cuttings. The parcel in play is historically known as the Clos des Montrevenots, where the vines are 45 years old. Again, all the grapes were destemmed and given a one-week cold soak before fermentation. There is very little new oak, and the wine is bottled after 12 months on lees. It’s a wonderfully bright and mineral Beaune for those who love purity and freshness in their Burgundies.

This is a beguiling and dreamy wine. Translucent, deep ruby/magenta with a harmonious bouquet of dark, jubey fruit, subtle florals, spicy rolling tobacco and wet stone. The nose certainly promises a lot and the palate delivers in spades. Smooth, soft, full and ripe – red and dark cherries mingle with chalky, ultra-fine tannins with enough […]

Quite powerful, not quite so harmonious but note that this has been tasted directly after the sublime Nuits-St-Georges Aux Boudots. Actually, this is a fine and nicely nuanced Vosne-Romanée.” 90-93 points, Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy “There is a very pretty, perfumed and high-toned […]
Add to cart Producer: Benjamin LerouxThe Lamarche Echézeaux comes from three lieux-dits: Les Cruots ou Vignes Blanches, Clos-Saint-Denis, and Les Champs Traversins. Altogether these parcels make up about 1.3 hectares of vines with an average age of 30 years. Nicole Lamarche works with very low yields here, which, alongside the Domaine’s delicate extraction, results in a superb expression of this terroir. Of this cuvée, Jasper Morris has […]

As always, the fruit for this wine comes from the plateau at Daix, near Marsannay. The vines sit at 400 metres, which brings freshness and purity. The very low yields contribute remarkable depth and age-worthiness. Even at this level, over 60% bunches were included, and only 5% new oak. This has always been a brilliant […]
