“More open higher tones here – pretty floral accents too – that’s fine! Lots of energy and flavour dimension. The flavour is highly accessible and modestly cushioned. Long and interesting, indeed absorbing wine. I love!” Bill Nanson, Burgundy Report
A very high, cold, rocky, late-ripening site, Montrevenots is at the top of the hill on the Pommard boundary above Clos des Mouches. It’s a south-facing slope, which, to some extent, mitigates the vineyard’s altitude. The white clay and limestone soils here tend to deliver raciness, bright, red fruit notes, and fine, powdery structure. At this stage, Jobard’s Montrevenots is a tiny cuvée, cropped from just one-tenth of the domaine’s 1.4 hectares. This is because he is replanting most of this site with mass-selection cuttings. The parcel in play is historically known as the Clos des Montrevenots, where the vines are 45 years old. Again, all the grapes were destemmed and given a one-week cold soak before fermentation. There is very little new oak, and the wine is bottled after 12 months on lees. It’s a wonderfully bright and mineral Beaune for those who love purity and freshness in their Burgundies.

A terrific follow up to the excellent 2019 with notes of blackcurrant, dark cherry, blackberry, sandalwood, baking spices and plum. Medium bodied, plush, succulent and sappy. The oak frames the wine nicely and is beautifully integrated. It’s delicate and pretty, the fruit sweet and tangy. Tannins are long, drawn out, powdery and soft. Very fine […]
Read more Producer: Vincent Dureuil-JanthialThis is a beguiling and dreamy wine. Translucent, deep ruby/magenta with a harmonious bouquet of dark, jubey fruit, subtle florals, spicy rolling tobacco and wet stone. The nose certainly promises a lot and the palate delivers in spades. Smooth, soft, full and ripe – red and dark cherries mingle with chalky, ultra-fine tannins with enough […]

Aged for 18 months in older barrels. ‘Offering up aromas of earthy red berries and spices, the 2021 Bourgogne Pinot Noir is medium-bodied, lively and mouthwatering.’ 86-88 points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate Feb 2023 ‘A paler pink crimson. Superb classic floral pinot nose. Fills the […]
Add to cart Producer: Michel LafargeA bright crimson red. After a few good few swirls, aromas of ripe raspberries, black cherries, wild herbs and some crushed violets soon emerge. The palate, though, doesn’t need much coaxing, and this silken, sappy wine has excellent depth and persistence. Will be even better six to 12 months from now. 96 points – Philip […]
