“Vanguardist-farmed Rende vineyard bush vines, around 55 years old; 60% whole bunch, with about seven weeks on skins; matured in 2200L Slavonian oak. The cool vintage has its say. Refined, fragrant and elegant, but savoury and spicy, too. Distinct nebbiolo/nerello mascalese riffs, more the latter – an increasing theme at this address. Dried cranberry and cherry, freeze-dried raspberry and orange, from dehydrated peel to the bitter orange note in amaro, chinotto, Campari … five spice, clove, green cardamom, white pepper, alpine herbs, sour plum, dried mint, pressed flowers, warm terracotta. It’s finer of feel. Is it lesser for it? Nope. It’s laden with so much flavour and etched with ultra-fine but authoritative tannins and refreshing acidity. This also opens up and holds for days, suggesting a very bright future. So individual; so stunning.” – 97 Points, Halliday Wine Companion – Marcus Ellis

From the Shay’s Flat vineyard in the Pyrenees. Some of you may be acquainted with Josh Cooper’s Cabernet Sauvignon from the same vineyard, a great site, no doubt about it. Immediate appeal, with the most gorgeous aromatics of lavender, rose, violets, dark cherry, kirsch, blackberry, blackcurrant, pink peppercorns, blueberry and cola. Medium to full […]
Add to cart Producer: Cobaw RidgeSumptuous grenache. Just because it’s grown on sand doesn’t mean it has to be light, or pretty, or boney, or cliche of all cliches, have sandy tannins. It is pretty and the tannins are ‘pumicey’ and grainy, but this Paralian grenache always has power, weight, density and a savouriness, harmonising the sweet fruit. The fruit […]
Add to cart Producer: ParalianThe emblematic wine of Juxtaposed, as it’s drawn from both the Wait and Smart vineyards. Its style, one of richness, flesh and silken texture run through all the reds and the quality here is incredible, making this quite possibly the best value grenache in Australia. Deep. Sweet cassis, kirsch, cola, aniseed, creamy vanilla, cured meats, […]
Add to cart Producer: Juxtaposed90% Grenache with Syrah/Mourvèdre/Cinsault. Planted in the 1920’s The 2022 Côtes Du Rhône ‘Vieilles Vignes’ which is from very old vines (important with Grenache) literally across the border of the Châteauneuf du Pâpe AOP is by far the best example of this wine that I have seen, like his CNDP above. This is from a […]
