Organic. Lalù’s Barbera from fruit purchased from Monforte’s San Sebastiano—a site that Lara Rocchetti and Luisa Sala believe is exceptional for this variety. Made with a third each of whole-berry (Leroy style), whole-bunch and destemmed fruit, the wine fermented and was raised entirely in concrete, where it aged for eight months.
Lalù’s is a radiant, linear, focused Barbera that wafts from the glass with shades of fresh red fruit, woody herbs and floral lift. The palate is silky and vibrant with depth and texture, and while it delivers a serious dose of fruit, you’ll find plenty of finesse and mineral freshness, too. A lovely, new-wave Barbera. The 2023 Saint-Aubin Hommage à Marguerite 1er Cru, a blend of Combe, Perrières and Craillot, is delightful, fresh and saline with subtle notes of sea spray and white peaches. The palate is well balanced with a tangy opening, and lively peach nuances develop toward the finish. This is harmonious and quite irresistible already. Recommended. (91-93) […]

Aromas of vanilla, orange peel, black walnuts, truffles, toffee, black sesame, balsam and moss. So savory yet juicy and vibrant, with a long, long finish. So much pleasure here. A little less vertical than the […]

Monplaisir is made from the main plot located just under the property with the first picking of clusters affected by passerillage. The grapes are hand-harvested, whole cluster pressed and vinified in stainless steel vats. Malo does not happen and the level of sulphur is kept on the lower side for Moelleux. The wine is sterile-filtered […]

This cuvée is a blend of fruit from high altitude sites dotted around the village. This includes the brilliantly named Sandgrub vineyard, but also a good dollop of wine from Wasseros (a steep, southwest-facing vineyard that abuts the Gräfenberg vines). The soils of these sites are typically composed of stony, fragmented phyllite interlaced with loess and loam. Raised entirely in […]
