Sadie Family Swartland Kokerboom 2022
$155.00“This is a wonderful expression of his Citrusdal Mountain farm, and something of a tribute to Henk Laing, the grower who passed away last year. Combining Semillon with around 15% interplanted Semillon Gris, this is less exotic than it can be, showing layers of honeysuckle, saffron, citrus and herbs supported by fresh, sappy minerality, a […]

Alheit Vineyards Cartology 2022
$85.00“‘It was a vintage that gave you the chance to show what you were made of,’ says Chris Alheit of the ‘middling 2022 growing season’. It certainly did. This is a brilliant cuvée of Chenin Blanc with 8% Semillon, sourced from ten different vineyards. Showing lots of energy from early picked grapes on granite soils, it has […]

Huet Vouvray Le Haut-Lieu Sec 2021
$90.00“This is a very fine, fragrant and floral Le Haut Lieu Sec. While delicate, the 2021 fills the mouth with a cloud of pure fruit reminiscent of violets, apple and nectarine skin. There’s a fine sinew that pulls the wine through on the finish. It can be approached in its youth but will go on […]

Thibaud Boudignon Anjou Blanc 2021
$95.00The Anjou Blanc is from old densely planted vines, rooted in shallow sand and schist soils. Aged for up to 18 months in 500L and Stockinger “cigar” barrels, 30% of which are new. This is certainly the estates signature style, if more approachable, fuller and rounder than the more aristocratic Savennieres. Clear, tender, transparent and […]

Alheit Vineyards Huilkrans Chenin Blanc 2023
$165.00“Huilkrans comes from Jozua Visser’s Oudam farm, located at 450 metres in an isolated spot on Citrusdal Mountain, sometimes called the Skurfberg. Planted between 1974 and 1978, the vines are all dry-farmed, producing yields of almost painful paucity. Fermented in old barrels before ageing on lees for 12 months, this sings with what Chris Alheit […]

Alheit Vineyards Hemelrand Vine Garden 2022
$90.00“One of my picks from Alheit this year. Excellent…This used to be the one wine from Alheit Vineyards that we didn’t include in our allocation request, because we felt it always had too much Muscat in the blend. It’s perfectly clear to me, and should be to anyone else, that Chris Alheit has taken heed of our important opinion and has […]

Alheit Vineyards Hereafter Here Chenin Blanc 2023

Serrat Grenache Blanc 2024
$45.00Only a single 500L old French oak barrel’s worth of wine, and as far as I’m aware the only grenache blanc from the Yarra Valley. Beautifully composed with citrus blossom, savoury spice, Victoria plum, matchstick, green melon and citrus marmalade. Plump, pure, fleshy and a lovely tension between savoury and fruitiness. Rich in flavour, but […]
