Somos Biodynamic Albarino 2024

Such a gorgeous wine with grapefruit, pear, yellow fruits, preserved lime, lemon, pink lady apple, jasmine and honey. Wonderfully fully flavoured and succulent, with texture and citrus drive focusing and lengthening the palate. All of the Somos wine’s are for drinking upon release, and the prices are eye wateringly cheap, but I would love to see this in 5 years and more. Fantastic and we are in bargain territory here. Biodynamic fruit from the Gemtree vineyard, aged in a sandstone amphora for five months. There seems to be a little more restraint, purity perhaps, in the recent Somos wines (now solely Mauricio Ruiz Cantú’s project). That’s not at the cost of detail or of intrigue. Green apple, corella pear, pink grapefruit, fresh mint, green almond, sea spray, the palate energetic, driven by acidity and sheathed in an uber-fine netting of citrus-pith grip, a hint of positive limey bitterness enhancing. It’s light of weight, rippling with flavour and structured beautifully for both food and those just into sapid refreshment. Lovely. 94 Points, Halliday Wine Companion
