Hereafter Here is what Chris Alheit calls a “young vineyard wine” although it contains older material from the Paardeberg and Tygerberg too. Blended with a splash of Semillon from Franschhoek, it’s a total bargain in the range, with a nice interplay of lees, beeswax and granite-derived structure and a touch of flinty reduction. 2024-29’ – 94 points, Tim Atkin MW, SA Special Report 2024
Hereafter Here is a young vineyard wine. The great thing about planting young vines is that you can choose the site and the material purely for the sake of quality wine. Some of our favourite growers have already planted new vines, as will we on our own farm in the coming years. I find the idea of planting for the future very exciting! Our kids will have nice mature vines to work with. This is also a great space for us to nurture younger parcels that are very good but still too young for Cartology. This vintage contains parcels from the Swartland to Stellenbosch.

“This is a wonderful expression of his Citrusdal Mountain farm, and something of a tribute to Henk Laing, the grower who passed away last year. Made from mostly Garganega, with Trebbiano providing aromatic lift and structure. Quite succulent for a Soave, and softer, broader than the Classico. Melon, almonds, frangipani, lemon, apricot and white peach. Very easy to drink, with a perfect tension of zing and gentle texture to match with food, or not, it really doesn’t matter. The Anjou Blanc is from old densely planted vines, rooted in shallow sand and schist soils. Aged for up to 18 months in 500L and Stockinger “cigar” barrels, 30% of which are new. This is certainly the estates signature style, if more approachable, fuller and rounder than the more aristocratic Savennieres. Clear, tender, transparent and […]

Hand-picked and chilled overnight before being whole-bunch pressed. We gentle pressed the fruit in order to avoid excessive phenolic extraction. The wine was fermented in stainless steel. After the primary fermentation the wine was sulphured and transferred to a large cask for ageing on the heavy yeast less fo 12-months. Medium-full bodied textural wine, supported […]
