Robyn’s contribution extends far beyond unwavering support of Gary’s four-decade career. She planted the vines, drove the tractors, filled barrels and pigeaged at midnight. Nadeson Collis Inception NV
$60.00“A very vinous sparkling, composed, rich, silky in texture, the Inception sees around 25% solera material blended with the remaining wine, chardonnay from 2017. The combined wines are matured in barrel. It’s a bold sparkling with honey on toast, cashew and sea-spray characters. Fuller in flavour, it shows a zingy tang of acidity and vigorous, […]

Toro Albala Don PX 2004 (375ml)
$95.00Ultra concentrated and sticky, with unctuous but wholesome raisin aromas taken to a level that’s almost heavenly. In the mouth, the maple, cinnamon and brown sugar flavors are lusty and satisfying, and the finish never ends. Henri Germain Meursault Limozin 2022
$265.00“Another wine that has only partially completed its malolactic fermentation is the 2022 Meursault Le Limozin, a medium to full-bodied, satiny and fleshy wine that’s broader and more voluminous than the taut Chevalières. Offering up reductive aromas of pear, hazelnuts and iodine, it concludes with a long, mouthwatering finish.” 91-93 points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate […]

Cascina delle Rose Barbaresco ‘Rio Sordo’ 2018
$145.00Another classic Nebbiolo profile, but perhaps more animal, elemental and masculine. Fresh leather, rose, sandalwood, Port wine tobacco, aniseed, blackcurrant, blueberry and dark cherry. Rich and deep, but with no loss of elegance or purity. Interwoven red, blue and dark fruits, sweet balsamic, juicy, not so much as linear, but nevertheless precise, expansive and palate […]

Caroline Morey Chassagne Montrachet Chambrees 2023
$285.00The usual blend of Bergerie, Masures, Chênes though the last is now pulled out (161/49 rootstock). Pale lemon and lime. Quite a refined bouquet, majoring on elegance rather than weight. Delicate, nuanced, good acidity, a pure and perfumed Chassagne for the medium term. Not too reductive at this stage. Drink from 2027-2032. 89-91 points – […]

Clos Larrouyat Jurancon Moelleux Phoenix 2020
$60.00Phoenix is crafted entirely from Petit Manseng. The drying southerly Foehn wind allows for the late harvests and passerillé necessary to produce Jurançon’s moelleux wines. The 2020 Phoenix was picked in November, then naturally fermented and aged for eight months in used barrels. With moderate residual sugar (of around 60 g/L), the racy Salharang style displays a terrific […]

Fabien Coche Meursault ‘Les Chevalieres’ 2021
$250.00The lieux-dit of Les Chevalieres is situated above the village of Meursault. Above is the lieux-dit of Les Luchets, which produces a higher toned, more tensile wine. I can’t help but think that this is ideally situated, in a sense, mid-slope, the perfect aspect in Burgundy. Impossibly complex, with notes of white flowers, lemon, lime, […]

Quinta Do Noval 10 Year Old Tawny Port
$115.00Angular in shape, quite different from the two Colheitas. Super vibrant and intense, the youth shining through! Sweet red fruits, baking spices and orange zest. Long and harmonious, the spirit in the background, but becoming more apparent along the palate. I love the powdery tannins that squeeze through on the finish. Texturally complex, but also […]

By Farr GC Chardonnay 2025
$170.00‘My vocabulary defaults to words like fragile and brittle, but it’s not right. Neither sinew, nor high pitched do this wine justice. It’s like porcelain; translucent, strong, beautiful and pure. Don’t make the same mistake I did and drink this straight from the fridge, it’s too cold. This wine is reluctant when it’s 4 degrees, a reluctance that becomes […]

Bondar Hope Springs Eternal Chardonnay 2024
$75.00A new wine in this lineup, from Bowyer Ridge vineyard, Lobethal, at over 500m. Three barriques, two older, one second fill, with full mlf. This needs a little time, with winemaking tricks pleasingly absent, but the acidity is coiled, crimping in flavour, of which there is ample, and texture. Time will heal. Cool nectarine, moving […]

Alheit Vineyards Huilkrans Chenin Blanc 2023
$165.00“Huilkrans comes from Jozua Visser’s Oudam farm, located at 450 metres in an isolated spot on Citrusdal Mountain, sometimes called the Skurfberg. Planted between 1974 and 1978, the vines are all dry-farmed, producing yields of almost painful paucity.
