Tyrrell’s Vat 1 Semillon 2016

Sensual and suave, with flavours I haven’t found in a Vat 1 before. Just when I thought I knew what to expect! Preserved lime, fresh lemon, cream, kiwifruit, gardenia and honeysuckle. Subtle and very young. This seems quite open, but I feel this will shut down soon and be the better for it. A wonderful Vat 1 that hints at greater potential. Waters Wine Co

A cull of the most propitious plots across the single dry-grown sites. Additional lees time in the modern era has promoted a winning approachability after a few years, rather than several. And yet Vat 1’s capacity to age is prodigious. Barley water, honeysuckle, lemon drop, dried straw and a skein of evergreen freshness that quenches, drives and balances the myriad of accents and textures.
