Sourced from 25 year old vines in the Grand Cru of Goldtropfchen and aged in Fuder, this is quite simply the best dry riesling at this price in the Mosel. Goldtropfchen is a large and diverse Grosse Lage. It’s gradient, exposure, soils, proximity to the river and elevation is variable, and so is capable of making the greatest variety of wine styles of all the top sites in the Mosel. Quality isn’t so much as variable, for it is a very great vineyard, but some sections will make less compelling dry wines for example, than others. That being said, the wines tend to have a breadth and richness uncommon in the Mosel, and a dark and very complex fruit profile. This is very open in style, as all of Julien’s wines are, with pithy citrus, cream, passionfruit butter, gardenia, quince, earth, smoke and some peach skin grip. Wave upon wave of flavour, fleshy fruit, tension and salt. Ravishing, utterly naked and beautiful, without artifice, just volumes of mouthwatering lusciousness. The greatest riesling maker of them all? Waters Wine Co
“There is general consensus in the informed wine world that the former star pupil of Klaus Peter Keller is one of the greatest talents of the German wine industry in the last 20 years.” – Jancis Robinson MW

Fuller bodied than the Altenberg and the shape is rounder, the palate ample. Mandarin blossom, yellow peach, grapefruit, lime preserve, spring jasmine and lavender. Grippy and mineral, the acidity abundant with a hints of mustard and sunflowers as the wine opens up. Focused and controlled, almost hedonistic and will live for a very long time. […]

95 points Stuart Pigott (JamesSuckling.com): “Stacks of smoky minerality on the sleek, yet compact and well-structured palate. Also excellent citrus ripeness that easily carries the vibrant grapefruit acidity. Long, super-clean finish. Drink or hold. (9/3/23)” 93-95 points Anne Krebiehl MW (Vinous): “The 2022 Riesling Schlossböckelheimer Felsenberg Grosses Gewächs is made from various parcels at different […]

A Riesling of great drama, concentration and tension, of a style rarely found outside Germany. Exotic yellow fruits, cherry, green apple, savoury spice, apricot, yellow peach and honeysuckle. Medium bodied, deep and pure, a thrilling tense palate, Saar like. Rippling energy, gripped with piquant acidity, squeezing phenolics and dusted by mineral salts. Tamed by residual […]

98 points Stuart Pigott (JamesSuckling.com): “What amazing harmony this Nahe riesling GG has in spite of the vibrancy of its very racy acidity. Amazing spice and smoke in the nose with notes of pomelo and grapefruit on the concentrated and impeccably proportioned palate. Some grapefruit pith bitterness at the finish, but this just adds to […]
