From grapes grown in the Grand Cru of Goldtropchen, though not from one of Julien’s vineyards. Despite this, I believe the ‘Mosel’ riesling to be the emblematic wine of the estate, at least in so far as, if you wanted to drink in the full glory of Julien Haart at an affordable price, this is the one. And it is glorious. I tasted this with another Haart sibling, surrounded by wines retailing over a $1000 a bottle, yet if I could settle down with just one bottle, this would be it. Expressive. Exotic fruits of pawpaw, green mango, guava and flint, mingle with cherry, blackcurrant, lime, apple and peach. Great volume and amplitude, with the breadth and richness of Meursault, yet the precision, detail and drive of the Mosel. Incredible presence, with wafts of mint, savoury spice, flint, earth cream and smoke, but the fruit thickly applied on a curved and sensuous canvas. For lovemakers and daydreamers. Waters Wine Co
The 2023 Mosel Riesling, as it is written on the front label, was made from grapes harvested in the Piesporter Goldtröpfchen and was fermented and matured in Fuder. It offers a beautifully aromatic and attractive nose of minty and earthy herbs, blueberry, yellow peach, green apple, lime tree, and smoke. The wine proves straightforward and linear on the zest-driven, with mineral and refreshing elements going through the nicely long finish. This is a very good bone-dry tasting Riesling. This may be an entry-level wine, but it shows terrific tension between juicy white fruit aromas and salty minerality. Barely medium-bodied, but with ample substance and a bold, stony finish. Drink or hold. Screw cap. 93 Points, Stuart Pigott
“Made mainly from 0.4ha of vines planted in 1976. A pure and quite lovely nose featuring scents of Meyer lemon, makrut lime leaves and floral notes. The palate is linear, chalky and long with the fruit and acidity in perfect harmony. I’m thinking san choy bow would be a great match. I’m guessing it’ll age […]
Add to cartInstantly appealing, sliced-pear and white-peach aromas with floral and mandarin notes. This medium-bodied dry riesling is so charming and lively, but also has very good depth and balance at the finish. 92 points, Stuart Pigott, James Suckling Dry. Organic. Screwcap. Few German estates produce an entry Riesling of this depth and structure. It is made entirely […]

From old vines, between 50 and 60 years old, a stunning array of cool aromatics. The faintest of pink colour, with beeswax, grapefruit, juniper, mint, tarragon, red delicious apple, lime zest and frangipani. Intense but not obtuse. Coiled, tense, vivid and cool flavours, including gooseberry, kiwifruit, savoury spice, tonic-like and pickled vine leaf. So bracing […]

98 Points – “The 2020 Marienburg GG Falkenlay opens with a clear, pure and crunchy slate aroma intermingled with generous, ripe and concentrated, very elegant Riesling fruit with herbal aromas. Full-bodied and rich yet refined and saline on the palate, this is a very delicate, pure yet also lush and superbly balanced Falkenlay with lingering […]
