Here the cool, dark and austere side of Mosel slate, is married to remarkable concentration and power. With this kind of structure it surely has decades ahead of it. Stunning herbal and crushed rock intensity at the compact and driving finish. 95 points – James Suckling
The most fruit driven of the Loewen GG’s, but that’s not to say purely fruit driven. Nettles, buttered mushrooms, clove and flint, cut through by lime marmalade, green apple, ruby grapefruit, green mango and honey. Supple and rich, almost full bodied, with hints of almond paste and ginger. Quite open and silky, with plenty of acidity. Refined and lucid palate, ethereal, without the drama of Loewen’s other wines. This is not to imply criticism, just a statement of difference, indeed, I think many drinkers will prefer the Ritsch due to its greater volume of fruit and transparent structure. Stunning and incredible value. Waters Wine Co
