Gentle Folk Pinot Noir 2024
“While not straying from its usual form, this release is slightly more savoury and earthy – an honest blend of fruit from all the estate vineyards, plus a little addition from Uraidla. Bramble and moss, orange rind and dried fig – this is fruit broken open to the air of a cold autumnal dusk. It’s contemplative and unfurls over days. The tannins are soft but elastic and there is a feeling of stretch and relent to their movements. And the acidity gleams. It’s spicy, too: pine needle, violets and black tea. The 2024 blend benefits from the addition of our new estate vineyard in Basket Range. Gentle Folk Sauvignon Blanc 2024
“Saline, rich and mouth-filling, this wine underwent complete mlf and spent eight months in French oak, both in barrique and hogshead. This is as good as it gets for Australian sauvignon blanc. Big on impact and deliciousness, the palate is a web of many skeins. Vanilla wafer, grilled white peach, Greek yogurt and lemon in all forms (from preserved segments to curd). It’s decadent, but there’s caution at hand, so as to not trample the fruit. Grapefruit, Pink Lady apple and a smattering of sea salt at the close. Gentle Folk Syrah 2024
We are lucky to purchase Syrah from two of the best Hills sites, five clones, heaps of sun plus some thoughtful planting density, fruit thinning and vine age. Its also grown by great friends, the Turnbulls and the Downers, with a passion for their land and the wine it can produce. 2024 has density, spice, tannin and all the things you want from proper shiraz/syrah. Gentle Folk Riesling 2024
“Gentle Folk is not shy with residual sugar; this vintage is a snap more pared back at 9g/L, making for seamless, textural drinking (some amphora and oak ageing here, too) with natural acidity kept in check. Pithy grapefruit notes with white florals in abundance, finger lime and mandarin oil and a splinter of chalky quartz-like flavour that also appears in the texture of the wine.
