Veuve Fourny & Fils Monts De Vertus Extra Brut Premier Cru 2012

Produced from vines over 50 years old, rooted in a low yielding vein shallow chalk running along a hillside in Vertus. Although not a single vineyard, the vines are of the same exposure and soil and from a continuous chain along the same slope. Vertus is known for it’s minerality and the Monts de Vertus is certainly veuve Fourny’s most dazzling and mineral wine. The sheer intensity of the fruit is tempered by longer ageing on lees, 5 years and vinification in barrel. Very intense, with zest and juice of lemon, lime and grapefruit, stone fruits, gardenia, pastry and mineral salts. Pulsating, with some extra textural interest, yet still that Fourny purity and silk.
