Marking the 20th anniversary of this white wine, the 2021 Nelin was produced with Garnacha Blanca, Macabeo, Xarel.lo and Picapoll white and Cariñena Blanca—in the future, there will be more and more of the last two varieties in the blend, a big change from the beginning. Produced with the juice from the direct pressing, the wine spent one year in oak and six months in tank. It’s balsamic, eminently Mediterranean and ripe, with 14% alcohol (a little lower through the change of varieties) and notes of hay and straw, aromatic herbs and waxy apples. It has volume and density but with the freshness from a cooler year. It’s approachable but should develop a lot more complexity with time in bottle. They planted three new hectares of white grapes, so volumes will grow in future years. 10,000 bottles. 96 Points, Robert Parker – Wine Advocate
This is 100% estate fruit, 25% whole bunches were retained while the balance of the crop was destemmed. Everything was pressed after 14 days into tank, and then gravity-fed […]
Add to cart Producer: Hochkirch‘This wine has been gone for too long. I’ve missed it. It has a pinkie onion skin vibe in the glass, and the nose is of ripe fruits, and a complex oak derived aroma, but not simply woody, maybe more like almonds or more specifically a marzipan character. On second smell, the nose is of […]
Add to cart Producer: Farr RisingEuropean in style. At least in the sense that it’s herbal, savoury, spicy and salty. Lifted red fruits, but it really is about those herbal elements and some lanolin fluffiness on the midpalate. Finishes mildly textural and slightly saline. Mouthwatering and delicious. Give it some food! Waters Wine Co
Add to cart Producer: Bloody Hill, Timo MayerAlea holds some additional sweetness as its canon. There’s an appealing and ultra-high drinkability here. Charm in spades. Floral scents of frangipani and lemon blossom with candied ginger, lime juice, just-ripe pineapple and tonic water. Similar to taste with a slipperiness to texture that feels well metered by the building crispness of the finish. More […]
