The 2022 The Standish Shiraz is again providing me with the opportunity to assess bottles two days apart, and how different they are. The freshly opened bottle, as we would all experience upon our first opening, is tight and fresh, with cracked fennel seed, black peppercorns, cumin and ras el’hanout, then dried blueberries and licorice, hints of arnica and raspberry. It’s cool and mineral, with a graphite finish. I cannot overstate how much better the wine tastes after two days. All of the edges smooth out, and it is composed and complete … what a wine. Balance and harmony in a single swoop. It’s savory, though. Super. 14.9% alcohol, sealed under natural cork and foil. 98 points – Erin Larkin, The Wine Advocate

Sourced from the Harcourt vineyard, ala Place of Changing Winds Harcourt Shiraz 2021, made quite differently. The aromatics are totally Heathcote; sweet earth, campfire, iodine, Serrano, sweet dark fruits and violets. Medium to full bodied, it’s round and sensual, cut through with rich, gourmand tannins. Such a contrast with the POCW, proving if t were […]
Add to cart Producer: BindiVibrant purple colour, with a lifted nose showing red fruits and Christmas cake spice. The palate has wonderful concentration and depth yet is still lively and fresh. Soft ripe tannins and piquant acidity drive and carry the wine. A wonderful example of the modern, medium bodied Hunter Valley Shiraz. Unbelievable complexity and detail for a […]
Add to cart Producer: Tyrrell'sThe 2017 Old Hut Shiraz has an enticing nose of dark berry fruits and lifted spice. It’s a dense, more brooding style of Shiraz compared to the Tyrrell’s 4 Acres. Yet it still shows the pedigree of its lineage with superb balance and length. The Old Hut vineyard was planted in 2003 with cuttings taken […]
Add to cart Producer: Tyrrell'sPacks a punch, that’s for sure, and if the hallmarks of Tim Smith is masses of fruit, soft tannins and masses of value for money, then the Bugalugs delivers in spades. Vibrant, juicy and intense, with loads of ripe blue, black and red fruits, violets, milk chocolate, baking spices and cedary oak. So much wine […]
