Like most of the Gentle Folk portfolio, this evolves over days in much the same way as a living thing, breathing in air and changing shape, opening and unfurling. The fruit is sourced from two of the very best vineyards in the Adelaide Hills: Murdoch Hill and Turnbull. Swathes of blue fruits, including blueberry and blackberry, dominate the nose in a fresh-fruited compote style, with plenty of spice to keep earth at the fore. It’s very aromatic, pretty and free. On the palate, there are more floral elements, with notes of cassia, cinnamon bark and blue plum. The natural acidity keeps the wine’s pulse energetic. This is a remarkable bottle for the price. 94+ points – Katrina Butler, Halliday Wine Companion
