Vignerons d’Estezargues Cuvee des Copains Cotes du Rhone 2018

Bright ruby red. Smells of raspberry, liquorice and meatiness. It has juicy texture, grainy tannins and acidity in balance with the fruit.

Made by Les Vignerons d’Estezargues a co-operative of more than 10 difference growers in the small town of Estezargues, west of Avignon. They are one of France’s most ground breaking co-ops. Formed in 1965 it turned the grower/co-op relationship on its head in 1995 when it began vinifying and bottling wines from each grower separately. Estezargues do not use cultured yeasts, fining, filtration or enzymes in production and the majority of the vineyards in the co-operative are farmed organically or biodynamically. Denis Deschmaps, their maverick winemaker, is rightly regarded as one of the Rhone Valley’s finest.
