The La Migoua area is renowned for its geological features and is often studied for its complex sediment patterns. The outcrops of rocks found in this area date back much further than those in the rest of the Bandol winegrowing area. The effect of one tectonic plate sinking beneath another (subduction) can actually be observed here. During the geological formation of the Alps, the lower layers folded themselves over the younger upper layers. The other unusual feature of this area is the huge geological fracture found in Val d’Arenc which is the reason for the outcrops of rock layers dating back to the Triassic age (200–250 million years ago). The vineyard’s parcels are intertwined among this wild landscape of scrubland and pine forest. Producer’s Note
Of the 2020 ‘The 2020 Bandol la Migoua—tasted from foudre—is a bit tarry and rubbery (expected, to some degree, in young Mourvèdre-based wines) but opens up to reveal seductive, ripe notes of blackberries and mulberries. A blend of approximately 55% Mourvèdre, 25% Cinsault, 15% Grenache and 5% Syrah, it’s medium to full-bodied on the palate, concentrated but silky in feel and elegant on the long finish.’ 92-94 Points, Joe Czerwinski, eRobertParker.com, Feb 2023

Add to cart Producer: A RoddaTerrific vibrancy, freshness and complexity. Sweet and tangy red and black fruits, the fruit high toned and elevated. medium bodied and lip smacking, the fruit tensioned by floral notes, serrano and fresh compost notes. As easy as it is to drink, this is still a wine of seriousness, with mineral velvet tannins of caress and […]
Add to cart Producer: Domaine la RemejeanneA very different expression this year, 2023 being cool and wet; rounder, softer and juicier. Blackberry, cassis, plum, dark cherry and raspberry, with a savoury squeeze of fennel, bay leaf and dried flowers. Is there an evolution in style, or is it the vintage? I’m thinking the latter. The more gentle structure a product of […]
