The 2017 Vat 6 Tyrrell’s Pinot Noir is gorgeous. It’s nervy and has that fabulous angular structure unique to Tyrrell’s. There is a complexity of flavour that I have not yet seen from this wine. Raspberry, strawberry and cranberry with hints of porcini mushroom and cured meat. There are also wonderful hints of oak spice amidst the firm, ripe tannins. This is great Pinot Noir and a ripost to those who think its a varietal suited to cooler climes.
The Pinot Noir grapes are sourced from just below the Tyrrell’s 4 and 8 Acre vineyards, planted in the 1970s. The grapes were hand-picked before natural yeast fermentation in open top vats. 30% whole bunches included. Maturation was in French oak barriques for 11 months, of which 10% was new. WWC, June 2019
Medium bodied, lovely tickle of graphite tannin, savoury but fresh strawberry and lightness of touch throughout, good finish, firm but fresh….. It will shine with a little more bottle age to bring out further complexity. It’s a very good Vat 6. 94 Points – Gary Walsh, The Wine Front

Le Dessus de Montchenevoy is located above the famed Savigny 1er Cru Aux Guettes. It’s a west-facing site on white soils that sits at an altitude of 350 metres and is surrounded by trees. The altitude and cool air from the forest help moderate the climate here, resulting in slow ripening and flavour development, while […]
Add to cart Producer: ChanterevesIt’s hard to express, but smells tighter, with some more noticeable oak. Plum, Daphne, creme de cassis, raspberry and brown spice. The structure is more evident than in the Mature Vine and is cooler, cosseted and slightly less expressive. Very long, so persistent with those trademark velvety/chalk tannins that become more firm and morph into […]
Add to cart Producer: RipponThe 2019 Volnay 1er Cru Les Santenots was the last wine in the cellar to finish its malolactic fermentation, and its bouquet of smoky blackberries and cherries was still comparatively unformed. Medium to full-bodied, layered and lively, its bright acids and powdery tannins mark it out as a particular success this year. 91-93+ Points – William Kelley, […]
Add to cart Producer: Thierry Glantenay“The 2020 Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Rouge has a little more florality on the nose compared to the Bourgogne Rouge, just a touch more delineation. The palate is crunchy in the mouth and displays a little more energy compared to the Bourgogne Rouge. Pretty, yet early-drinking.” 88 points, Neal Martin, Vinous Lamarche holds 1.5 hectares in […]
