The 2017 Vat 6 Tyrrell’s Pinot Noir is gorgeous. It’s nervy and has that fabulous angular structure unique to Tyrrell’s. There is a complexity of flavour that I have not yet seen from this wine. Raspberry, strawberry and cranberry with hints of porcini mushroom and cured meat. There are also wonderful hints of oak spice amidst the firm, ripe tannins. This is great Pinot Noir and a ripost to those who think its a varietal suited to cooler climes.
The Pinot Noir grapes are sourced from just below the Tyrrell’s 4 and 8 Acre vineyards, planted in the 1970s. The grapes were hand-picked before natural yeast fermentation in open top vats. 30% whole bunches included. Maturation was in French oak barriques for 11 months, of which 10% was new. WWC, June 2019
Medium bodied, lovely tickle of graphite tannin, savoury but fresh strawberry and lightness of touch throughout, good finish, firm but fresh….. It will shine with a little more bottle age to bring out further complexity. It’s a very good Vat 6. 94 Points – Gary Walsh, The Wine Front

A remarkable wine, from an impossible vintage. The fruit is sourced from all of the estate vineyards, only 100 cases produced perhaps the best demonstration of just how punishing a vintage it was. Quite closed initially, but with patience, aromatically soaring. Intense sweet and tangy blue red and black fruits, cut flowers, mace, clove, cinnamon […]
Read more Producer: Place of Changing WindsThe Lamarche Echézeaux comes from three lieux-dits: Les Cruots ou Vignes Blanches, Clos-Saint-Denis, and Les Champs Traversins. Altogether these parcels make up about 1.3 hectares of vines with an average age of 30 years. Nicole Lamarche works with very low yields here, which, alongside the Domaine’s delicate extraction, results in a superb expression of this terroir. Of this cuvée, Jasper Morris has […]

Add to cart Producer: Sailor Seeks HorseThe 2019 Bourgogne Rouge delivers inviting aromas of cassis, sweet berries, spices and orange rind, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy palate that’s lively and sapid. After the rich, gourmand 2018, the 2019 is a touch more nuanced and dynamic, but this is always a dependable cuvée. 88 Points – William Kelley, […]
