2018 is one of our favourite Burgundy vintages, with richness, structure, bright fruit and refreshing acidities. A turning point vintage for many Bourgogne rouges, so often expensive and underwhelming. Thierry Glantenay’s Bourgogne Rouge is a case in point, with a luxury of fruit and suavity of style unimaginable 5 years ago. There is a extra level of complexity, depth and structure that although this is easy to drink, ensure time in the cellar will be rewarded. Darker fruits, Christmas spice and pomegranates (warm ferment?) along a silken palate, that seems to increase in richness with each sip. Lots of presence and very hard to resist. Lovely, great value Burgundy.
The 2018 Bourgogne Rouge offers up a pretty bouquet of sweet berry fruit, cassis and smoked meats, followed by a medium to full-bodied, charming and succulent palate, its ample core of fruit framed by melting tannins. This will drink well on release. – 88 Points William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
