Mid ruby in colour. Very attractively perfumed on the nose and agreeably fresh. Some roses as well as red fruit. This is not the most powerful Malconsorts you will ever taste, but there is a fine tensile strength which shows off the qualities of the vineyard very expressively. Properly persistent, a lovely wine for the medium term. Drink from 2032-2038. Tasted Nov 2025. (94-96), Jasper Morris M.W., Inside Burgundy, January 2026
From 0.74 ha of vines planted early 1970’s located close to Grand Cru La Tache, aged in 2/3rds new oak, 1/3rd 1 yo oak. A wine of rare breed and depth of Grand cru quality and dimension.

Direct from the cool dark cellars of Rippon, and at 10 years old this is drinking beautifully. It’s interesting to taste the estate’s DNA, with no perceptible style changes over the years. A single-vineyard wine planted with MV6 and Abel clones in the late ’90s; 25% whole bunches. A bright, medium crimson. Whereas the ’24 was quite restrained, this is beautifully fragrant from the get-go, with its bouquet of red and black fruits, bramble and lifted florals. The palate is gently mouth-filling with silky tannins that make […]

94+ Points – TWF This first-rate release brings together Bannockburn’s entire spectrum of Pinot vineyards. The 2024 includes fruit from Olive Tree Hill, planted in 1976, 10 Rows (1991), Stuart Block (1997), Anns Block (2004). The cream on top? The close-planted De La Terre block planted in 2007. All the sites lie in volcanic loam […]

Every year, it’s a tussle to decide my preference; Sangreal or Farrside. A warmer, even vintage 2024, without extremes and there seems a certain evenness to the two pinots, they are so well appointed. Another feature of this release is their apparent openness, so much so that I cannot remember these two wines tasting so […]
