A phenomenally individualistic wine, and the most emblematic Pinot Noir from Place of Changing Winds. Tension runs through every seam: sleek and structured, with high-toned blueberry, hedgerow fruits, cut flowers, Indian spices, vanilla and mint, balancing sweet and savoury. There’s a brooding, elemental quality beneath a shroud of smoky, flinty reduction, hinting at greater beauty still to emerge. Seamless, savoury and tangy, with fabulous, pliable tannins, it has real size, energy and thrust, yet weighs in at just 12% alcohol. Thoroughly gastronomic. This is a classic for decades to come.
The 2024 Between Two Mountains is one of the finest and most seductive Pinot Noirs we’ve produced so far. It comes from several high-density parcels (between 10k/ha and 25k/ha), including those that sometimes produce our Beyond The Forest cuvée. You can expect a fleshy yet vibrant, complex and hedonistic Pinot. Although it’s powerful, it’s also a wine of great perfume and finesse, and it’s already approachable (although it will certainly age well). It was matured for nearly 30 months: the first two years in oak, then 6 months in tank, all the while building depth and complexity. We used a range of barrel sizes (228, 300, and 600 litres), with around 20% new. As always, no fining and no filtration.

All the sites lie in volcanic loam […]

Despite the light colour, pouring the wine releases an immense bouquet. I know we’re in for a treat! Expressive and vibrant with plum, cherry, raspberry, blackberry and five spice. Deep, succulent and complex and so much presence and grip. Tannins are very fine, that seem to tighten towards the close. Scaffolding acidity, with the length […]

This is a beguiling and dreamy wine. Translucent, deep ruby/magenta with a harmonious bouquet of dark, jubey fruit, subtle florals, spicy rolling tobacco and wet stone. The nose certainly promises a lot and the palate delivers in spades. Smooth, soft, full and ripe – red and dark cherries mingle with chalky, ultra-fine tannins with enough […]

The vineyard name, Les Longeroies, probably comes from the French verb longer, which means ‘to border’. This makes sense as Longeroies is on the boundary between Marsannay and the next village of Chenôve. It is one of the star climats of the AOC and has been earmarked for promotion to 1er Cru (when Marsannay finally gets some!). Longeroies faces south, […]
