Chatto Franklinii Pinot Noir 2023

The Franklinii is the most delicate, fine-boned china wine from the Chatto range. Wafting and cool, there’s a lot going on, but this is a little less immediate and needs coaxing and a little warming to unfurl. And unfurl it does. Haunting scents of blue, black and red fruits, cured meat, savoury spice and potpourri in a old wooden cupboard. beautifully lithe, it’s light to medium bodied, yet displays incredible presence. Well muscled, very much defined by it’s structure of cashmere and chalk tannins, the fruit enveloped in a heady mix of Turkish tobacco, fresh compost and dried herbs. Very long and mouthwatering, the acidity lively and the finish long and mineral. My favourite of this release. Waters Wine Co
