The 2017 Vat 6 Tyrrell’s Pinot Noir is gorgeous. It’s nervy and has that fabulous angular structure unique to Tyrrell’s. There is a complexity of flavour that I have not yet seen from this wine. Raspberry, strawberry and cranberry with hints of porcini mushroom and cured meat. There are also wonderful hints of oak spice amidst the firm, ripe tannins. This is great Pinot Noir and a ripost to those who think its a varietal suited to cooler climes.
The Pinot Noir grapes are sourced from just below the Tyrrell’s 4 and 8 Acre vineyards, planted in the 1970s. The grapes were hand-picked before natural yeast fermentation in open top vats. 30% whole bunches included. Maturation was in French oak barriques for 11 months, of which 10% was new. WWC, June 2019
Medium bodied, lovely tickle of graphite tannin, savoury but fresh strawberry and lightness of touch throughout, good finish, firm but fresh….. It will shine with a little more bottle age to bring out further complexity. It’s a very good Vat 6. 94 Points – Gary Walsh, The Wine Front

This is a beguiling and dreamy wine. Translucent, deep ruby/magenta with a harmonious bouquet of dark, jubey fruit, subtle florals, spicy rolling tobacco and wet stone. The nose certainly promises a lot and the palate delivers in spades. Smooth, soft, full and ripe – red and dark cherries mingle with chalky, ultra-fine tannins with enough […]
Add to cart Producer: Home HillNatural cork. With both this cuvée and the wonderful Rugiens-Hauts, Leroux is back in Pommard with a bang. The 2019 is a blend of Les Vaumuriens (high on the slope) and Les Cras (on the lower slope), both vineyards lying on the Volnay side of the village. Leroux notes the cooler, hillside fruit from Les Vaumuriens brings freshness and balance to the blend. […]
Add to cart Producer: Benjamin LerouxClassic Tasmanian pinot noir from a great year. Complex red summer fruits. Floral, roses and lavender, with sweet and savoury spice, compost, pine needles and smoke. Plenty of volume and shape, the fruit succulent and juicy – balanced by darker, savoury elements. So much textural flavour complexity, the wine a shape shifter in the glass. […]
Add to cart Producer: MeadowbankA feature of Farrside is its combination of sweet and savoury spice, flowers and flavoured tobacco. An extremely exotic and singular wine, 2022 sees its uniqueness in the extreme. Fenugreek, cumin, violets, lavender, Turkish tobacco, red fruit compote and blackberry. Prickling with acidity, edgier and more angular than recent vintages, the Farrside’s savoury side on […]
