“A width of silky, medium sized, aroma. A little like the Volnay – airy and with a different structure/architecture. Here with more concentration and less high-tension activity. This is really a beauty in its contemplative but never heavy or fat style.” Bill Nanson, Burgundy Report
“A good bright crimson ruby. There is very little bouquet on show as yet. This is intense, youthful, structured, all in red fruit including some cherries. Needs more elevage to get where it is going, but a promising start.” 89-91 points, Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
The lion’s share of Jobard’s Pommard is drawn from a site known as Les Petits Noizons, where the vines are exposed to the southeast on the hill above the 1er cru line. Meanwhile, the evocatively named Rue au Porc climat sits below the village abutting the D974. Across the holdings (which are not large), the average age of vines is around 50 years. It’s deep and fleshy, with ripe tannins and the finesse we now expect of Antoine’s reds.

This is Mortet’s ‘super-Gevrey’, sourced from a clutch of five brilliantly placed plots that Denis Mortet chose for the quality of their terroir and plant material. All the vines are at the northern end of the appellation, which dictates the finesse. The vineyards include: En Motrot, situated between the church and Château de Gevrey-Chambertin, close to Clos Saint-Jacques; Au Vellé, […]
Add to cart Producer: Denis MortetThe 2021 Toolangi Pinot has a nice array of expression so early here that’s good to see! Rose petal spiced plum and strawberries with some crushed nutmeg on the nose. The palate exhibits similar flavour spectrum with some nice density to it, trademark Toolangi tannin to close but its fresh and ready to go! Fruit […]
Add to cart Producer: ToolangiA bright crimson red. After a few good few swirls, aromas of ripe raspberries, black cherries, wild herbs and some crushed violets soon emerge. The palate, though, doesn’t need much coaxing, and this silken, sappy wine has excellent depth and persistence. Will be even better six to 12 months from now. 96 points – Philip […]
Add to cart Producer: Giant Steps“A little lighter in crimson purple and showing a touch of oak now. Quite powerful, not quite so harmonious but note that this has been tasted directly after the sublime Nuits-St-Georges Aux Boudots. Actually, this is a fine and nicely nuanced Vosne-Romanée.” 90-93 points, Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy “There is a very pretty, perfumed and high-toned […]
