“Also a nose of depth and guarded darker fruit. Broad, mouth-filling wine – a fine, grainless tannin as a support for everything else. Modest bitters add extra complexity to these finishing flavours. Another wine to wait for, but perhaps becoming accessible a little before the previous Beaune.” Bill Nanson, Burgundy Report
“The 2021 Pommard Village has an open-knit red cherry and crushed strawberry scented bouquet that has more charm than its Volnay counterpart. The palate is lithe and supple, exerting fine grip, beautifully balanced with a sense of panache on the finish. Classy.” 90 points, Neal Martin, Vinous
The lion’s share of Jobard’s Pommard is drawn from a site known as Les Petits Noizons, where the vines are exposed to the southeast on the hill above the 1er Cru line. Meanwhile, the evocatively named Rue au Porc climat sits below the village abutting the D974. Across the holdings (which are not large) the average age of vines is around 50 years. Tasting in recent vintages with Antoine, it is already clear that he has the same touch with red wine as white wine. His style tends towards brightness, perfume and digestibility. “It’s the kind of Burgundy I want to enjoy and to drink,” he says. The grapes are 100% destemmed and naturally fermented, with roughly 10 days on skins. The wine was then aged for 12 months in barrel (only 20% new). As we know, so many great white Burgundy producers are today making outstanding reds. You can now add the name Antoine Jobard to that list. This year, the Pommard was cropped at 20 hl/ha, and it punches well above its weight.

Star anise, sweet English summer fruits, Bresaola, lavender and damp leaf. Sweet and tangy fruits, picked at the perfect moment, serpentine, supple, brooding and haunting. Every sniff and sip reveals something different. Serrano, blood orange, chocolate, Middle Eastern spice and long silky tannins that tighten along the finish. Exquisite balance, the wine in constant motion. […]

Harvested on April 6th at 12.8 Baume. 50% whole berries at the base of the ferment with 50% whole bunches placed on top for 19 days. Add to cart Producer: Hughes & HughesThe 2017 Vat 6 Tyrrell’s Pinot Noir is gorgeous. It’s nervy and has that fabulous angular structure unique to Tyrrell’s. There is a complexity of flavour that I have not yet seen from this wine. Raspberry, strawberry and cranberry with hints of porcini mushroom and cured meat. There are also wonderful hints of oak spice […]

As always, the fruit for this wine comes from the plateau at Daix, near Marsannay. The vines sit at 400 metres, which brings freshness and purity. The very low yields contribute remarkable depth and age-worthiness. Even at this level, over 60% bunches were included, and only 5% new oak. This has always been a brilliant […]
