The 2022 vintage, of which we bought up the entirety of stock that was left, is showing magnificently. 2022 was a cool and wet season, ensuring a very late harvest, excellent for Nebbiolo and the development of long, complex tannins. Aromas of cool and tangy red and hedge fruits, baking spices, lavender and rose, and freshly turned earth. Very pure on the medium-bodied palate, succulent, savoury and mouth watering. Nothing is forced, the tannins al dente, the acidity vibrant, the palate vibrant, intense and textured. Harmony and balance, all the elements interwoven for a long and gorgeous life. It’s too early to know how long the Traviarti Nebbiolo’s will age in bottle, but what is certain is that at every stage of their evolution, they are a beautiful, intellectual and emotional drinking experience.Waters Wine Co
The cool season has provided a finer and bonier iteration than the 21 and with the most approachable tannin profile so far off the site. While this drinks early it has the drive and balance to live a happy life in a good cellar. Simon Grant – Winemaker

I don’t normally like fizzes aged for long periods on lees but this, disgorged after five years, seems to have hit a sweet spot. Still very primary and super intense with pastry notes, butter, apple, almond cream, lavender, honey, grapefruit, lemon, lime, white peach and cinnamon. Fantastic intensity with great vibrancy, the acidity so lively […]

Barbara Sandrone describes this as a mini Barolo, as do so many Barolo producers when discussing their nebs, but marketing pitches aside, I don’t think that does it justice. You can have too much of a good (great) thing and the Valmaggiore is so elegant, composed and beautiful, without trying to emulate Barolo. Grown in […]

Traviarti’s Simon Grant helped establish this vineyard, which will no doubt be a source of great Nebbiolo. Considering how young the vines are, this is remarkable. Highly aromatic – more so than the estate wine – with crushed rose, English summer fruit compote, beetroot and ruby grapefruit. The palate is expansive and finely shaped, with […]

A 45/45/10% cabernet sauvignon/merlot and cabernet franc/petit verdot blend with the majority coming off the original dry-grown 1963 plantings. A fabulous, bright crimson/purple. A touch riper and richer than the ’22. There’s a sumptuous core of dark fruits, violets, cedar and fresh pencil shavings on the nose. It’s just as enticing on the perfectly pitched, […]
