Garnacha & Amigos wears its intentions on its sleeve: bright, juicy and made to be shared. Mauricio Ruiz Cantu brings his trademark hands-off, good-times approach to this South Australian red, letting each variety add its own character without overcomplicating things.
Grenache makes up the lion’s share at 58%, bringing crunchy red fruit and plenty of freshness. Mencía adds floral lift, Nero d’Avola gives the wine a little more breadth, while a touch of Syrah brings savoury spice and shape. The result is deliciously uncomplicated — vibrant berries, supple tannins and a faint peppery kick, with the kind of easy-drinking energy that keeps the glass moving.

Mauricio Ruiz Cantú sources fruit from small growers across McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills, focusing on sustainably farmed vineyards and varieties suited to the Australian climate. Somos – meaning “we are” in Spanish – speaks to the connection between winemaker Mauricio’s Mexican heritage and his adopted South Australian home.
At its core, the philosophy is simple: good wine begins with respect – for the climate, the land, and the people who farm it. The emphasis is on climate-appropriate varieties that thrive in warm, dry conditions, with fruit sourced predominantly from certified organic and biodynamic sites.
The resulting wines are vibrant, fresh, and expressive – thoughtfully made, shaped by intention, and guided by nature.
