Cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc, malbec and petit verdot; matured for 15 months in French oak (45% new). Superb colour, the bouquet a wondrously complex mix of cassis, earth, tapenade and black olive, all fused into a magically woven palate with tightly furled tannins. 98 Points, Halliday’s Top 100 Wines of 2021
87% Cabernet sauvignon, with 7/3/2/1% merlot/cabernet franc/malbec/petit verdot. Matured for 15 months in barrique, 45% new. Cassis and red licorice on the nose, bay and salt bush, too. The palate is salty and fine with layers upon layers of spice and texture. The tannins are like finely textured gills, stacked as delicately as the folds in a mushroom. The length of flavour unfurls and extends across the palate, taking so long to fade that this entire tasting note is possible off one sip. The rest are just for pleasure. Drink it now, or in 40+ years from now… both will be possible. 98 Points, Erin Larkin, Halliday Wine Companion 2022

‘Cordon Cut’ refers to the unusual practice of cutting the canes allowing the grapes to ‘raisin’ naturally on the vine, concentrating flavour and sugar levels. 2020 is another outstanding vintage for Mount Horrocks. The wine is a bright, pale white gold colour with concentrated lemon-lime and vanilla spice. The juicy fruit washes over a vibrant […]
Read more Producer: Mount HorrocksFrom a vineyard planted in 1998 and only 170 dozen produced. This is a terrific follow up to the 2020, finer, sleeker and deeper. Classic Margaret River nose with blackcurrant, plum, blackberry, blueberry, cigar box and geraniums. High toned, with a refined intensity that is positively mouthwatering and succulent all at the same time. Terrific […]
Add to cartI am forever surprised at the lack of support for Cabernet Sauvignon and cabernet blends, particularly when I am lucky enough to sample Josh Coopers wonderful wines. Not as edgy or angular as his later released wines, this nonetheless has some wonderful rough hewn tannins and a back lift of bright acidity. Blackcurrant, plum, cherry, […]
Add to cart Producer: Joshua CooperThere isn’t a lot of Cabernet grown in Tasmania, but after tasting the range at Domaine A and Bubb + Pooley I would hope other growers take notice and start planting. 2022 is the inaugural release of Cabernet Sauvignon off the White Kangaroo Road (WKR) vineyard, the home of Bubb and Pooley. Expressive aromas of […]
