There isn’t a lot of Cabernet grown in Tasmania, but after tasting the range at Domaine A and Bubb + Pooley I would hope other growers take notice and start planting. 2022 is the inaugural release of Cabernet Sauvignon off the White Kangaroo Road (WKR) vineyard, the home of Bubb and Pooley. Expressive aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, mulberry, licorice, clove and cola. Deep and concentrated with sweet red fruits, ink, soy, complex sweet and dark spices and rich textural tannins. Bubb + Pooley is a new wine venture created by the husband and wife winemaking team of Justin Bubb and Anna Pooley. Their first and subsequent releases were produced from purchased fruit sourced from carefully selected vineyards in the Coal River Valley and the East Coast of Tasmania.
Sustainability and minimal impact underpin the approach at Bubb + Pooley – the fruit is hand-picked and there is minimal added sulphur to facilitate wild-yeast ferments and natural malolactic conversions. The wines are fermented in hand-crafted concrete vessels specifically designed to enhance the varietal.
All wines are bottle unfined and so are vegan suitable.
