“Sometimes absolute greatness is easy to explain and understand, but that’s not always the case, as for example with this lightning strike from a clear blue sky. On the nose this is like being lowered into a smoke hole. The palate is extremely compact, yet somehow doesn’t break the upper limit of medium body. So deep that you feel like a geologist searching for the origin of the earth. So much wet stone character in the finish that you forget the world around you. Drinkable now, but best from 2026.”

2023 Julian Haart Piesporter Goldtropfchen Riesling GG, 96 Points, James Suckling

“This very youthful dry Mosel riesling is a deep well of yellow, black and pink fruit aromas plus an entire dimension of green herb notes, Very pure and straight on the medium-bodied palate for a top site that easily tends in the baroque direction. This is bristling with energy and slatey acidity on the compact and racy palate. Long and bold finish. Drinkable now, but best from 2026.”
