Such a different expression. Topaque’s usually play second fiddle to Muscat, but that should definitely not be the case. Very complex and layered with a lovely tension between the sweet and savoury elements. Florals, honeycomb, salted caramel, grilled nuts, sultanas and savoury spice. It’s somehow lighter than the Muscat, yet shows more vivacity and stuffing. One of the best. Waters Wine Co
Has a distinctive yellow-gold colour, different to that of all other Rutherglen topaques; a classic array of cold tea leaf aromas joining with caramel, shortbread biscuit and toffee flavours; it is somehow brighter and crisper than most other Rutherglen topaques, yet does not sacrifice complexity. 500ml. 93 points – Halliday Wine Companion
